Running

Double victory at the end of the decade

03.01.2020 - Natalie
Since 1998, the New Year's Eve run has taken place year after year in Schwaibach near Gengenbach. After Jonas missed the first three New Year's Eve runs at kindergarten age, he took part for the first time in 2001. Since then, he has run every 365 (or 366) days at home. After 3-4 years in which he tackled the 2-kilometre distance, there were just as many years in which he started over the almost five kilometres. For some years now, however, he has mostly competed in the ten kilometres, although he won both times in his two outings in the two kilometres and was also able to improve the course record at that time.

In 2019, he was at the start for the 19th time, which makes him one of the top 10 hardest New Year's Eve runners in Schwaibach. After several overall victories in the past years, Jonas was able to assert himself in 2019 as well. In an exciting race, he ran 33:47 minutes and thus secured another victory for our team at the Silvesterlauf Schwaibach. Thanks to the also very strong performances of our teammates Jonas Lehmann, Bachir Benouaret and Florian Walz, who all finished after 34:12 minutes at the latest, four Roadrunners made it into the top 6. Among the fastest 13 there were even eight blues, to which I could also contribute. In 37:03 minutes I managed to improve the course record again and to win the 10-kilometre run of the Schwaibach New Year's Eve Run for the sixth time in a row. Directly after the race we went to the airport and back to Edinburgh, where we did not miss the spectacular fireworks over Edinburgh Castle to start the new decade.
